Pros and Cons of using apps to learn songs

This is a very quick blog that I was interested in speaking about. That would be the pro’s and con’s of learning a song or instrument through one of these applications. Before I dove into it, these are all personal opinions about these sites.

 

Pros

When growing up it took a very long time to get on the internet. Believe or not I am from a time where Dial up was still a thing. To load up any music or download any sheet music at the time was unheard of in my house anyway. We used to go to our local music shop and buy the sheet music in a book or printed out on sight. The pros of this application is the access is there in a second. I can look up any song and find a cover of it and the chords of it in an instance.  If you look at my past blog’s you will see a list of features that realistically are all pro’s. you can adjust the key of the song, the speed at which it scrolls through the page and also you can easily zoom in on something if you find it hard to read.

Con’s

This is all an opinion, but I feel these sights give people the opportunity to half learns and instrument and half earn a song. I have admitted to winging songs during a gig with the assistance of this app. When I was younger though I was lucky to be taught the basics from a family member. People who are just beginning can easily learn a few chords and get a way with playing a few songs. This is fine if that’s what you want to do but if you are interested in really learning the instrument then I would only use this

Alternative Apps

In the past few blogs, I've been discussing the ins and outs of the application and website Ultimate Guitar. I feel I wouldn't be doing my due diligence if I didn't give you some alternatives. In the last few day’s I have looked at the following websites of these two alternatives and tried them out personally.  Yousician: You have most likely seen this app advertised on YouTube. This would depends on your YouTube algorithms but for anyone who has ever looked up hoe to play a song on YouTube this is a very popular add. When entering the site to Yousician , It straight away asked me some useful questions. Features and personal use

  Earlier this year I began gigging again and decide I should go ahead and pay for the full membership of the Ultimate Guitar app. To say I am thrilled with the purchase is an understatement. The app has so many extra features that help anyone beginner or professional to learn a song that they want. Let’s discuss some features, shall we? Transposing: So, what is transposing? In general transposing is adjusting the key to the song either up or down. You may ask yourself why is this useful. The key reason this is useful is because if you haven’t got a high voice and you are learning some Queen then you may ant to lower the key pf the song to suit your own voice. Another reason why transposing is useful is when you are in a situation where you feel not too confident enough to play the song but need to play it in a gig situation.
